ACQUISITION, LEASE OR JOINT VENTURE
In selected markets, Brim will acquire or lease a hospital and operate it as sole owner or in partnership with the local community or doctors. Brim presently operates Wadley Regional Medical Center, located in Texarkana, Texas, under a joint venture with a local mult-specialty medical group. The 370-bed general acute-care hospital was acquired in March 2009 after it faced significant financial challenges. Through the acquisition, Brim was able to continue the hospital's rich tradition of providing quality healthcare services to residents in 16 counties of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Brim also operates Pikes Peak Regional Hospital, located in Woodland Park, Colorado, under long-term operating lease. Through an innovative, successful relationship with the local Pikes Peak Regional Foundation, Brim helped the community build a new state-of-the-art hospital that opened in 2007. While the Foundation holds the title to the land and new facility, Brim assumes financial risk and management for all operations.
Both Wadley Regional Medical Center and Pikes Peak Regional Hospital represent excellent examples of communities partnering with Brim to gain access to national operating expertise and critical financial resources to expand and improve healthcare delivery in their communities.
